Happy Earth Day!
Did you know that one of the most powerful ways to address climate change is to restore and retrofit our buildings?
In March, 70 nations signed the UN-sponsored Declaration de Chaillot. This foundational document calls for global cooperation to address the 37% of the energy-related CO2 emissions that come from buildings and construction.
This year, the first greenhouse gas emission limits take effect for large buildings in New York City under Local Law 97, a part of the city’s Climate Mobilization Act.
At both the local and global levels, we are seeing acknowledgement of what we at Henson Architecture have long understood to be true, and what we work towards every day: that the care for our buildings improves the lives of our clients, as well as our climate.
On this 54th Earth Day, we celebrate by doing what we do best: caring for our planet’s climate through caring for our city’s buildings.
