Henson Architecture is the building architect for this nine-story Renaissance Revival loft building, which was converted into artists’ living and working quarters in 1978-80 after decades of commercial, storage, and light manufacturing use. Designed by the noted firm of Cady, Berg and See in 1895-96, the building is a contributing member of the Tribeca East Historic District and is eligible to be listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places.
Henson has been working on the building for many years carrying out a range of projects including design and construction for the restoration of the historic facade, wood window repairs, roof repairs, elevator, boiler, MEP upgrades, and interior renovations. Henson has performed three cycles of FISP inspections, and produced and filed the building’s Fire Protection Plan with NYC Department of Buildings and the Fire Department of New York. Henson is also assisting the building in lowering their energy use and carbon footprint through building envelope and building systems upgrades.
