Matthew Radune has focused on sustainable design as a lens to view every project that he works on. Much of his work experience involves retrofitting and adaptive reuse of existing and historic buildings, a crucial sector for climate mitigation goals.
Matthew is a Certified Passive House Designer who’s worked on multiple Passive House projects including two rowhouse retrofits as well as a new construction home outside the city.
He also has a diverse urban planning background that includes working on design and urban guidelines for a neighborhood in Dubai, multiple urban and rural cohousing community master plans, large rural conservation plans, and a school campus design.
Matthew has been an advocate for broadening the awareness of sustainability and climate resiliency within the profession, curating three consecutive years of an annual joint panel discussion between the AIANY’s Committee On The Environment and the Historic Building Committee, for which he won an AIA Award.
He recently curated one of the most intensive workshops thus far in carbon reduction for existing and historic buildings, a three day event at the Association for Preservation Technology’s Annual Conference in 2020.
