Scott Henson Architect, LLC practices architecture with a sensitive awareness of traditional building materials and construction details.  Stone, brick and mortar, terra cotta, wood, cast-iron, steel, sheet metal, and glass are few of the traditional materials we have in-depth knowledge and experience in specifying, detailing, and fabricating.  Our practice directs this immediacy of materials toward preserving the historical character and architectural significance of the buildings under our care.

Through traditional construction methods and new construction technologies, we find solutions to immediate and long term concerns of building maintenance and preservation.  We work closely with our clients to investigate building conditions and to develop strategic, economically responsible recommendations for the repair of their buildings, and then implement the design and construction in an open, transparent line of communication.

Our firms focus is on the preservation, re-use, and recycling of older and historic buildings as an effective tool for the sustainable stewardship of our environmental resources, including those resources that have already been expended in the construction of those buildings.  Through this approach, we can provide some of the most beneficial green advantages that can be offered in building construction while stressing the importance and value of historic preservation in sustainability.
